* live/Work in Halton Region & spend a lot of time in Woodstock area too
* GTA or London/Kitchener/Guelph/Cambridge/Brantford/GTA could work for me.
*most interested in joining/forming a band that does gigs a few times per month at the most ie. not aiming to make this anything more than a part-time thing, and I don't have the time or inclination to 'tour' outside of Southern Ontario.
*my vocal range is very similar to Ian Anderson's (of Jethro Tull fame) - some of the baritone range & some of the tenor range.
*I have not been in a band situation for a while, and do not have a huge repertoire memorized, but enthused about learning/re-learning tunes & I have a good honest work ethic.
* contact me at "blueznjazz" (at) "" (dot) "com
* I have absolutely no interest in dealing with big egos, pissing contests, or those who get wasted/stoned before or during a gig. Respect the music and your bandmates, right? :-)
* can practice once a week & gig a couple of times a month.
* my full-time job and other commitments eat up a lot of time, but I always make room for music.
* I have a lot more time to gig or travel outside of GTA in July & August, if required
*No interest in 'winging it' or wasting time at practices. Let’s have fun, but not lose sight of the goal.
* I’ve been away from the serious music thing for a while but itching to get back into it.
* I have a ‘good ear’ and I ‘get it’ in a wide range of styles of music.
* can play kbds & rhythm gtr well, but due to a bit of rust, the learning curves are still there, but not insurmountable by any stretch.
* give me some homework & I’ll learn the songs.
* I’ll need some time to catch up to a band that already has a 30-song set list down pat, but I will get there.
* If you were planning on gigging a full set list in less than a month, I’m probably not your best choice if the parts are intricate.
* I’m a ‘team player’ (“it’s about the song, not about me”) & an excellent listener/communicator.
* I see myself as being in a supporting role, not the focus of the attention etc.
* Comfortable moving between Rhythm Gtr & Keys, plus some backing vocals.
* Also very interested in performing originals and/or providing input on writing/arranging.

Influences
There really are too many fave's/influences to mention, but I'm going to try! lol!
In General:
* Classical, Jazz & Blues, British Invasion & Classic Rock, Punk & New Wave,
* Reggae, Power Pop, Grunge, Alt-rock, Garage, & Christian Contemporary rock.
* not tied to any particular decade....there was great music and crap music in each one.
* enjoy a lot more than just the obvious big hits & love the ‘B-side’ tunes too.
In addition to covering the great bands of the 60’s/70’s, I could really get into the idea of belonging to band that cover tunes or write originals in the same vein as the following (or combination thereof...)
* Power-Pop band (Matthew Sweet, The Jam, Sloan, Cheap Trick, The Smithereens, Big Star, etc)
* snappy witty New Wave-ish pop/rock (Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello, etc)
*an REM cover/tribute band. (lots of variety over their career!),
*a U2 cover/tribute band,
* a 'Manchester-sound' band (Charlatans UK, The Verve, Stone Roses....& Oasis without the egos & fights!)
* garage/retro sound, but with keys or add the keys (The Black Keys, the Love Me Nots, B.R.M.C., The Clique (UK), The Chevelles, The Woggles, Dandy Warhols, The Sonics, etc)
* I'm definitely not stubborn or anal about my preferences. Basically, if it's 'real' and not cheesy music written to make record execs rich/happy, then I can believe in the music & will love to play it.
I do not play speed metal, thrash, rap, hip-hop, excessively sugar-sweet country, or anything that you’d hear regularly on a "Lite-FM" muzak station. But I do like more gritty country, southern rock, country-rock, and country with good crunchy guitar.
