Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Bass Guitar, Drums, Trumpet, Saxophone, Keyboard, Piano.ABOUT
I am very interested in either joining a predominately ?Blues? band, or looking to start a Blues band. Living close to Peterborough, Ont. I have had many opportunities to hear many talented musicians from this area and from other areas when they play some of the local venues. As with most musicians even though we love to play we also continue to hold down other jobs to guarantee an income. Now being semi-retired I am in a position where I can commit more of my time to playing music.
So now I am very interested in starting a full-fledged blues band. Being in my fifties and having played harmonica for over thirty years I am looking for other mature and well experienced musicians who have a real passion to play to join me in this pursuit.
Although as I mentioned I want to focus on the blues, some funk and soulful tunes is another area that I would like to explore.
Being a trues blues artist I have broken the blues down to many regional styles such as the southern ?Louisiana / Mississippi Blues? such as B.B. King, Sonny Boy Williamson, and Howlin Wolfe. ?Texas Blues? such as Big Joe Turner, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Smokin Joe Kubic, and Koko Montoya, ?Chicago Blues? which normally includes a horn section and such musicians like Buddy Guy, Junior Wells, Muddy Waters and Willie Dixon, and what I call ?Rockabilly Blues? who I would include current blues bands who play the local clubs such as Canada?s own, the Downchild Blues Band, and some of the bands from yesterday such as the Powder Blues Band and the Climax Blues Band ect.
I definitely am looking to include a horn section in the band which would allow us to adapt to many various styles and is a must for some good solid funky sounds.
Here is what we need to get started jamming and practicing.
