A guitar player and I want to start a weird, groovy, trippy, alt-funk, rock original band. Both of us have been in gigging indie bands in the past and we want to get back to that. Bands that inspire us include Primus, RHCP and Suicidal Tendencies, but the songs are turning out a little more down-tempo and more alternative than those bands. Still some heavy parts in each song, but in some parts you might hear a stoner-rock or electronic influence, too.
Together, we have worked up 3 covers (Primus' Tommy the Cat, RHCP's Around the World, and DJ Champion's No Heaven) and the instrumental skeletons of 6 originals. We think we've got enough to make it worthwhile to add a drummer now. At the moment, we're thinking of splitting the vocals. Maybe you can share in that, too!
We usually jam once a week on Friday evenings. We don't have a jam space that will accommodate a drummer, but we'd consider renting a space if we found someone. We're over 30, so this isn't going to be a "take over the world" kind of project. Just a group of good musicians who mainly want to play local gigs. This is perfect for someone who was in a serious indie band before, dropped out of the scene for awhile, and wants to get back into it without joining a cover band.
Gotta be substance-free, too. We're having a lot of fun, and we might have the odd drink, but we need our jams to be productive.
