Kenton is a multitalented musician who plays a variety of musical instruments. These include the African hand drum (Djumbe) Flute, Saxophone, Guitar, Steel pan (Steel Drums) He has performed and taught all forms of music and rhythm throughout the Caribbean, He has also performed in London, USA and Canada. His most recent ventures included traveling to Vancouver Island with steel pans and djumbe drums for performances, demonstrations, Ashanti Storytelling, drum jams, and workshops.
Kenton is a fascinating teacher and presenter, one who captivates his audience with music of the Afro-Caribbean rhythms. He shares stories of the songs' origins and explains the culture behind the rhythm. He is enigmatic and charming with a commanding yet lighthearted and cheerful presence.
Kenton is the founder and owner of Kendrum Music Academy & Recording Studio formerly known as Kendrum Afro-Caribbean Musical Institute and Director of Kendrum Youth Steel Orchestra (KYSO). Both are located in Brampton, ON. where he teaches music to both children and adults. KYSO Performed in New York in the summer of 2010 and at the Boston Carnival 2011 see( www.bostoncarnival.com ) KYSO is expected to visit and perform in BC Canada summer of 2012. Kenton Performed and conducted a series of music workshops for Carifesta in Suriname 2013.
