I'm a 24 year old female singer looking to join (or start) a band that would play original material (possibly a couple GOOD covers/interpretations) in the Greater Vancouver
area. I'm also not opposed to starting on covers & working towards playing mostly original material.I prefer alternative/modern rock, but am open to different styles including pop-rock, indie, folk, cabaret, melodic metal, and anything else that strikes my fancy. I'd want to practice at least once a week, and hopefully get into playing gigs and doing some touring if all goes well.
I sang in choir all through school. I do kareoke at pubs and bars when I have the time. I play far too much Rock Band. I've done a few live gigs and radio shows. I occasionally perform at variety shows doing burlesque and singing, sometimes both for the same act. So if you're into doing something akin to cabaret, I am in. I'm a huge geek and love to write nerdy parody songs. I write lyrics and can come up with melody lines. I pick things up pretty fast and tend to learn mostly by ear.
At the link below, you can hear some of my voice in an alternative/experimental/folk kind of style. The song Stoney Mountain has me in it. It's pretty rough and unpolished. We didn't get to practice much before the recording.
