Working jazz duo seeks bass player to join. Gigging weekly. Full set of charts available. Also aim to experiment with "jazzify-ing" pop tunes and classical motifs.

Shorelines is a musical duo playing live instrumental music across southwestern Ontario. ~ An easy mix of old standards, jazz classics, and familiar songs, we offer up well-crafted melodies wth a gentle touch and deep feeling ~ sometimes light and cool, sometimes dark and blue - always smooth and inviting. ~ We are the musical ingredient you'd add to create that elusive atmosphere at a reception, dinner, or event.

Influences

This Band? mainstream small ensemble jazz, strong bias for Miles and cool style (MJQ etc). Since we are influenced more by chablis than heroine, almost no bebop,and a preference for tonepoems than blistering solos.

Trumpeter's influences? Trained in Humber College jazz program. Absorbed the Phil Nimmons approach to sound. Adores ballads. Influenced by Guido Basso, Chet Baker, Arturo Sandoval. Plays flugel.

Guitarist influences - strong jazz and blues background, Played in a Chicago tribute band, two big-band swing orchestras. I listen to most guitar-based music from Django to Satch. Keen about Joe Pass, Jim Hall, Kenny Burrell. Follow the likes of Lee Ritenour, Larry Carlton, Robben Ford, Pat Metheny, Mike Stern. See myself as the tasty, reliable, multi-voiced sideman rather than the searing, can't-wait-for-my-solo frontman.
