ABOUT

When I first moved to Montreal over 20 years ago, I wanted to be in a band. I did a few things about it but didn't commit. I think I must have had stage fright, or collaboration fright, or something - but I've since lost all shyness about that. I've jammed and performed all for fun, but want to take it the next level. I had voice and piano (10 years, classical) training back then (self-taught guitar for a few years, still have a romance for baritone guitar, not that I play), and have voice training again now. Ideally you would be seeking me first to collaborate on multi-voice songs, live or in studio, and after I've earned my chops I can sing lead. Or whatever you need, I'm game to try.

I am also actively seeking someone to mentor/teach me DJing, mixing, and production. I have radio DJ experience so I knew (past tense) how to cue, and also how to cut tape, if that is still relevant. I do still have old mixtapes, and love that they have a comeback. I think I might have an ear for mashups.

Influences

My tastes are electic, and so I clicked the four genres that are different that I can do. When it comes to "pop" which is so terribly wide, I like the funky stuff, who doesn't? But I can also do World, classic rock (though it depends), classic pop, and lounge/show tunes.

Generally whenever I go to karaoke I follow a formula: one older style (Carpenters to Motown to Amy Winehouse) challenge I've worked on a few times, one club or school hall banger from the 80's (not the 70s or earlier, with the exception of Joni Mitchell, funk, and some glam) to today, and one song I've never done before and haven't heard enough to be absolutely sure of myself. I would love to do country covers of songs you just wouldn't imagine as country. Yes indeedy.
