ABOUT

We play what is sometimes called "straight-ahead jazz" or "modern jazz". This is NOT dixieland, not atonal, but improvising based on the "old standards", eg. Misty, Doxy, St. Thomas, etc., and latin jazz, especially Bossa Nova. There are 7 members in my band, but I would like to reduce the number to 4 or 5 and replace some of the current members.

Influences

I lead the band and also play lead guitar. My influnces are Jim Hall, Johnny Smith, Barry Galbraith, Charlie Byrd, Ed Bickert, Herb Ellis, Charlie Christian, Django Reinhardt, Joe Pass, Stephane Grapelli, Miles Davis, Oscar Peterson, Jimmy Giuffre, and many others.

Members Of Band

The actual number varies: usually 2 trumpets, tenor sax, piano/keyboard, bass guitar, drums (sometimes), harmonica (sometimes), and myself on lead guitar. I find that trumpets and tenor sax are too loud to work well with guitar. As lead guitarist, I solo on quite a few of the tunes and the trumpets and tenor just don't mix well with guitar.
