UPDATE:
I’m going to leave my original profile information up (down below), but I thought I should really update this thing. So …
Currently, I’m not really looking for a gigging situation, although I might be open to the right situation. But I’m quite involved right now in a recording project (or two ... or three) of original material, mine that is. And yes, it will be put out on a good ol’ CD, as well as being available on digital downloads and what have you.
I write and record my own stuff, taking care of all vocals (lead and harmony), bass, all drum programming, percussion, all rhythm guitars and some lead. What I’m always on the lookout for are players (mostly keyboardists and lead guitarists) who, having a strong sense of melody and songcraft, enjoy contributing their talents to original recording projects. Session players, hired guns, capable and competent, is what, or whom, I’m talking about. I also keep an eye out for more “unusual” instruments, as well: violin, cello, banjo, bagpipes, pedal steel, harmonica, duellin’ digeridoos, etc..
My music is basically in the pop rock/classic rock genre, but stylistically, I’m all over the place. I like the diversity of the “jukebox” approach to compiling an album’s worth of material – where the listener doesn’t really know quite what to expect from one track to the next.
I typically do a complete, all-instruments demo along with providing “chords-over-lyrics” sheets. The idea is that a session player doesn’t come into record cold, but rather has a pretty clear idea of the intent of the song in question, and of course, is amenable to guidance in fine-tuning what it is I’m after or want to hear.
Although the intention is to release these recordings, at the end of the day, and if the truth be told (or realized) this may amount to nothing more than a vanity project ... but we’ll have fun (hopefully) doing it.
ORIGINAL PROFILE:
I am a lead singer (tenor), with a very good ability to harmonize. Strong, danceable, catchy, melodic, classic pop rock with lots of vocal harmony is where my head and heart is.
At this point, I'm looking for/to form a top flight cover band to do something very well and have a lot of fun doing it for weekend gigs in the Lower Mainland. Contact me at bjhb at shaw dot see eh.
