ABOUT

email me at gregh@nadion.ca this is the best way to contact me.

i am a gifted harmony and backing singer that can add character and nuance to your lead vocal. i am looking at forming a duo or trio (one female voice would be great, 2 would be beyond cool). i want to write and record original material and i want the trio to be musically diverse and able to play a large range of material any time. or switch mid-set if it's not clicking for the audience.

my vox are very growly and masculine, but i have a lot of range.

i am not someone who enjoys being the front person, i am very content to play guitar and back up someone else. i make you sound better.

my perfect sound would be guitar driven, highly melodic and based around unique vocal harmony. acoustic guitar offset by some ragged electric. female lead vocal with growly male backing vocal. tension and contrast.

original music or covers are fine, i have about 30 original songs in varying states of completion. some demos, some parts, some ready to go. could use a writing partner maybe. lyrics are not my specialty :-)

Influences

this could be a very long list. i'll throw some down, and add more later. i am into almost everything... no particular order:

radiohead, beatles, byrds, REM, zevon, dead, neil young, trews, hip, jj cale, fleetwood mac, robert johnson, zep, g-n-r, eagles, soundgarden, jayhawks, solo lennon, simon and garfunkel, floyd, replacements, stevie wonder, skydiggers, talking heads, eminem, tracy chapman, van morrison, weezer, wilco, wallflowers, watchmen, tori amos, treble charger, train, cream, audioslave, queen, boston, sloan, city and colour, xtc, big sugar, ray lamontagne, new pornographers, matthew sweet, the cure...pretty diverse.

and i have a fascination with canadian female singer songwriters (i do not know why):

neko case ("honorary canadian" but that counts),lights, feist, kathleen edwards, sarah harmer...

Members Of Band

i am a prior recording/touring musician (drums), currently "retired" from the road. now i play guitar, write & record. discontinuation syndrome is the name i use for all my projects. it's just me.

i would like to perform and record again, on a "semi-serious" basis. i want to do it because it is fun, not a "job." i am not looking for another round of EAT/SLEEP/LIVE THE BAND and a cycle of "record/tour/record/tour."

i have a lot of spare time, i am retired from work and i want to do something fun and productive.
