36 year old dino drummer here seeking one passionate band or artist. I also do session work but am more interested in having our own primary band, project or single artist we play for
Let me explain what a dino drummer is. A dino drummer is he or she who believes that one does not need to do everything online in order to succeed in their music goals. The greatest bands didn't need the internet at all to meet each other and get started. These almost-rant-like sentiments have stemmed from weeks on end of people asking me for online samples of my drumming. I say the only sample you will find from me is my sitting on the drum throne playing Live for your audition. Sorry if I hold an outdated opinion but I refuse to play by the rules set by "my time is too precious to give you the benefit of the doubt. You instead have to prove yourself before we can jam" type of musicians. You don't want to risk wasting your time but achieving something, heck, anything with zero risks doesn't sound very realistic. Risk is an integral part of achieving a goal, including music related goals.
I wonder (not) if Cobain asked Grohl for "online samples" before they met to test each other. This is the problem nowadays. Too many guarantees are asked before musicians even meet up. I understand life is more hectic and busy in the 2000s but my lack of interest in having an "online portfolio" should not represent my ability to drum.
I believe in in-person auditioning. You know: in real time... where the drummer you're auditioning can make mistakes.. not a recording where she/he had so many takes before choosing to upload just one final take. I am thankful that the internet makes possible such easy convenient communication between us, I still think that we should give each other the benefit of the doubt because you never know, in someone with no samples we might be missing what could still potentially our best fit for our project/band/gig etc
P.S: As far as genres go, I don't discriminate. Bring on the variety. Just don't sing 80% of your song in falsetto like the male singers of today please.

They vary daily or hourly. I rehearse on a shuffled playlist. To give you a rough idea, my playlist could jump from Megadeth to Norah Jones to something unlike neither. I don't care much for genres

Gibson Less Paul Studio cherry red electric guitar
Fernandez (Japan-made) electric guitar. This one has a rare FANTASTIC TONE and has impressed even the techs at Long & McQuade who have experienced hundreds of different tones. It needs someone more advanced than me to fully appreciate its sound
You're welcome to use both guitars (only the Fernandez gets out of the studio though). The Gibson is built as tough as a wine glass for some reason.
