Welcome to my profile! My profile may say I play for fun, but I'm passionate about what I play. I mostly enjoy moody progressive rock to progressive hard rock, but I enjoy playing more contemporary hard rock, classic rock, and tinkering with latin rhythms too. I would rather play music that moves and inspires me for free, than play music that bores me for money. I love emotional, angry, sad music that is complex, creative and intricate. I want the audience to FEEL the emotions we convey as a band, not just bop around on the dance floor to well-known, overdone songs.
I am interested in piecing a band together of musicians who would enjoy creating something different. I've always loved the synth-based prog rock of the late 70's & 80's, and fusing that with rock/hard rock guitars might give some idea of the direction of this project. I'd like to keep the band to 4 members, but this will require some multi-instrumentalists. I can play the keys but as a drummer, I won't have much opportunity for that. If you're a singer or guitarist who can also play keys, that would be great! If we could end up with guitars, keyboards, bass & drums, with one of those players able to sing, that would be our objective.
For musical style, we'll need a capable keyboardist who wants to play more than just backing chords; who enjoys exploring different synth sounds. A guitarist who can alternate between rhythm & lead, interchanging lead parts with the keyboardist. A creative bassist that hopefully will be in sync with the percussion and looks forward to less mainstream rhythms, because that inspires creativity with the drums. And a singer with a decent range and something unique in his/her voice, who can sing with emotion, whether it be forceful or subdued.
I realize this sounds very ambitious, and maybe you can't have it all...but I'd rather aim high. Ultimately I want this band to perhaps play some covers of music from that era, but to have the passion to play this somewhat unpopular musical style, because they LOVE it...music-for-the-masses be damned!
If this intrigues you and you're interested in jamming and seeing what transpires, I'm at coelacanth97@ya hoo.com (remove the space).
