Im a guitarist who has experience playing a variety of styles including: technical death metal, Blues, Jazz (Bossa nova, free jazz, bepop, gypsy jazz AKA manouche, etc) , funk, classical indian, classical, and more
i play 6 strings in addition to the Novax 8 string stereo guitar that features 3 bass strings and 5 guitar strings (charlie hunter style).
Im looking for one of 2 things:
1) to start an experimental metal/fusion project ( see below for details)
2) Project aside, im also open to jam with players of all instruments who seek to widen their experience as i do.
I have been playing for about 16 years total but had a small hiatus the years ago due to personal issues.
I have experience with ear training and utilize it effectively to guide me in my playing.
Im currently seeking like minded musicians who are interested in a project that fuses all genres but at its heart it would be metal and jazz essentially.
Think aggressive , big dissonant chords , odd timings , and possibly altered open tunings. Solo parts to be improvised to inject some jazz as opposed to some of the drier pre written metal solos. Vocals are bieng considered at this point as well, ive had a hard time finding someone that can keep up comfortably.
Again there are no limitations, songs can vary from experimental , etc.
Im also thinking we can do some darker renditions of some jazz standards with distortion for fun
I have experience singing a little but its mostly scatting along to solos , harmonizing certain licks etc..
I am a huge fan of manouche gypsy style jazz playing , and thus it will probably come up at some point :)
This is a highly experimental project that requires some finesse and an open mind. Please consider the influences below as they are a good indicator of what to expect and how varied my musical tastes can be.
Im open to alot of instruments and ideas, if you think you can fit the bill hit me up. I am particularly fond of exotic instruments such as the sitar , oud, tabla, etc..**
I am currently moderately committed but should the right person come along im more than happy to make more time for this.
