My passion for singing and performing stems back many, many years. Whether singing karaoke at home or jamming with a band on stage in front of 500 people, the love for the performance remains.
I am equally versatile in music genres as well. I have always loved the vocal prowess of many country performers. The clean, pure delivery mixed with sweet harmonies still gives me goose bumps. On the other end of the spectrum, the amazing vocal range and power of a few specific metal singers leaves me in awe.
Most people will tell you they're deathly afraid of speaking in public. Well, singing in public can be just as terrifying. The only way around it is to just get up there and do it. If you suck, you suck. If you're great, you're great. It doesn't matter. The point is, it's a continual learning process.
I would have to say that my strengths lie within metal. With someone such as Bruce Dickenson as a huge influence on me, that operatic style just simply suits me. It's a tough gig and certainly a challenging one. That's why I spend most nights in my home studio demoing and critiquing. It's a great way to practice since you can go back and listen to what you just did. You quickly learn what you need to work on and what your strengths and weaknesses are.
