Do you care about Social Justice AND love British Music?
I know this could be a long shot, but I need to know if there's ANYONE out there like me?
Do you watch the 6 o'clock news, see all the problems of the world, and wish you could do something to help people? Do you think about...
- the plight of refugees fleeing war zones
- domestic violence victims (both male and female)
- stopping child abuse and bullying
- the acceptance of LGBT sexual minorities and transgender / non-binary people
- the investigation of missing and murdered aboriginal women
- the rights and safety of sex trade workers
- fighting discrimination and police violence against black and brown people
- improving accessibility for disabled people in our city
... and wonder what the heck you could possibly do to help?
Do you also LOVE listening to, and singing or playing, British music??
I want to start a British (oh, and Irish too) music cover band, and if we're good enough and can get enough of a following, we will play fundraising benefit gigs for various charities and non-profit organisations. We can do some gigs just for fun and a bit of $ too, of course, but I specifically want to work with other musicians who give a damn about the world, and want to make a difference!

Influences
I want to cover stuff from...
- '60s alternative/Mod/psych stuff (weirder Beatles tunes, early Who, Velvet Underground, the Zombies, the Creation)
[NOTE: Please don't contact me if you're intent on playing a lot of Rolling Stones / Led Zeppelin songs, I have issues with those guys.]
- '70s punk & ska (the Clash, the Specials, the Selecter, Madness, English Beat)
- '80s/'90s UK & Irish social commentary artists (the Smiths, Morrissey, the Housemartins, the Beautiful South, Billy Bragg, the Redskins, Sinead O'Connor, U2)
- Goth, dreampop, synthpop (Cocteau Twins, the Cure, Siouxsie & the Banshees, Depeche Mode, New Order, Pet Shop Boys)
- Shoegaze (My Bloody Valentine, Curve, Slowdive)
- Madchester (the Stone Roses, Happy Mondays, Charlatans)
- Britpop (Blur, Oasis, Rialto, Supergrass, Lush, Elastica, Sleeper, Echobelly)
- Triphop (Portishead, Massive Attack)
- to modern popular British artists (Lily Allen, Kaiser Chiefs, Arctic Monkeys).
Do YOU want to form a tribute to the past several decades of awesome awesome music from the British & Emerald Isles - AND help save the world in the process?
If this post resonates with you in any way, please get in touch with your details (do you sing, what instrument(s) do you play, your favourite British/Irish artists, and the social justice causes closest to your heart).

EQUIPMENT
Profile Precision bass guitar (P-bass clone obviously - it's actually quite good), Fender Frontman 15B practice amp (it's very loud!). Also have two keyboards (a Casio and a Korg - I actually prefer the Casio), and a massive KC-300 Roland stereo keyboard amp. A Sennheiser E835 mic (everyone says this is better than SM58) with full mic stand. Beyer-Dynamic DT-990 Pro headphones (amazing). Yamaha acoustic guitar. Crappy cheap electric guitar, unknown brand. I'll write all the model numbers when I find them.
