SEEKING
Band to Join, Vocalist, Rhythm Guitar, Lead Guitar, Drums, Keyboard, Piano, Background Singer, Other.ABOUT
Hello folks I’m a middle aged Bass player looking to form a new or join an existing band. My musical tastes run to heavy metal and good old rock and roll I like stuff from the classic rock days as well as I really like a lot of the newer music, from Cream to the Headstones, Pearl Jam to Fuel, Metalica to Temple of the Dog, as well as I like to learn and write originals I can write the bass line to new originals at speed on the fly as well as work with the band on the whole process of writing and creating new music.
I’m looking for musicians who understand different tunings beyond the standard E tuning such as Drop D and open Tunings and for example (If you want to play Fake It by Seether or the Saturdays Nights Alright For Fighting cover by Nickleback and Kid Rock the guitars are tuned down a full step). This would require the guitarists to have more than one guitar as re’tuning guitars constantly just doesn’t work, the guitars don’t like it.
I am also looking to be in a band that wants to put in the effort to learn the songs and get all the parts if not exactly as the originals at least correct for us so we can all play the songs from beginning to end and learn 10 – 20 song sets where everyone knows there parts and we get good and tight.
I am just plain old sick of the Rolling Stones and all the other old standards that all the Classic Rock cover bands play I can play the blues but find them boring unless were writing something new I would like to try and be a little more creative with the cover tunes (When it comes to the Blues freeform jamming is the most fun) yet I still realize you’ve got to play something the ladies like to dance to a fine line I know but a little creative thinking and we can come up with some killer sets.
As you can tell from the pictures my rig is not something that I can move around everyday and the one thing I don’t have is the practise venue to put this all together so I’m hoping there’s a musician out there with an empty basement or something similar for practising. My rig can get loud there is no band I can’t keep up to volume wise so an above ground or garage in suburbia won’t cut it the cops would be there in no time. To practise at drum kit volume would require something below grade or where disturbing the locals has been solved.
If anyone is interested in creating the band I have outlined above and are located in the greater Georgina area or Northern York Region please contact me at the email address at the end of this profile. My kids are teenagers now and my wife is very supportive of my hobby so I’m good to practise 1-3 nights per week and could possibly gig 1 – 3 nights per month if we got that good but I am a family man with a full time job and dropping everything to go on tour just isn’t going to happen (That being said if someone writes us a couple of million dollar checks I’m good for the world tour).
There you go folks if anyone is interested contact me at vanvalk@rogers.com and let’s see what we can create.
